New York, NY March 30, 2017 — It’s a giant weekend for Country music – the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards takes over Las Vegas, and Lon Helton, who will be receiving his fourth ACM “National On-Air Personality” award, celebrates his silver anniversary with Country Countdown USA.

Country Countdown USA launched over the weekend of April 4-5, 1992. At that time, the show was carried by about 75 affiliates, some of which still carry the show. The show is now carried by more than 225 affiliated stations.

Lon’s first co-host was Steve Wariner, who was in the Top 5 at the time with “Tips of My Fingers.” Since then, practically every Country star with a hit has sat in the co-host chair. The show hasn’t slowed down during that time, with Lon winning his 8th Country Music Association Award for “National Personality of the Year” last November.
