Porkcasts to Run Across Network Programming
NEW YORK, October 13, 2015 —Westwood One and The National Pork Board have joined forces to promote daily porkcasts across the network’s programming. The daily “porkcast,” a wordplay on pork and forecast, is a fun and engaging consumer brand integration that reminds listeners to create pork-inspired meals to complement the changing season. The campaign, which includes commercials running in Westwood One’s NFL and Country programming, will also feature live read spots from CBS Sports Radio’s Tiki Barber during his Tiki & Tierney (9 am–12 pm ET) morning radio show. The radio ads will prompt listeners to search for recipes that fit their local, real-time weather forecast based on location.
The Westwood One audio campaign, which runs through November 1, will drive consumers to a website where recipes for all seasons are available step-by-step. Some of the weather-related recipes include:
- Warm Days of Early Autumn: Smoky Hot Chops with Cool Cucumber-Tomato Salad
- Cooler Days of Late Autumn: Country Cupboard Soup and Hot and Sweet Cubano Sandwiches
- Cold Days of Winter: Pork Chops Flambe
This clever promotion was designed by the National Pork Board to help families show creativity in the kitchen, at the tailgate, and on the grill. The Porkcast is a guide to a variety of quick, easy, and delicious pork-inspired meals for this fall and early winter. About the National Pork Board
The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. Through a legislative national Pork Checkoff, pork producers invest $0.40 for each $100 value of hogs sold. Importers of pork products contribute a like amount, based on a formula. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, science and technology, swine health, pork safety and sustainability and environmental management. For information on Checkoff-funded programs, pork producers can call the Pork Checkoff Service Center at (800) 456-7675 or check the Internet at www.pork.org.
