New York, NY – May 12, 2015 – Westwood One, the leading provider of 24-hour formats, announced today the introduction of a second version of its popular Classic Hits format that features rock music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, without the dance, R&B and Motown. Classic Hits-Rock will launch Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
“Depending on the musical heritage of a market, we found that affiliates either wanted a version that included just the rock and pop hits, or one that covered the whole spectrum,” commented Kirk Stirland, President of Programming at Westwood One. “Now, with these two recipes, we’ll be able to provide stations with the winning mix, whatever the opportunity in their market.”
Classic Hits will continue to feature a broad mix of rock & roll, pop and soul hits, where the new Classic Hits-Rock will offer the rock and pop, without the rhythmic music from the era. Classic Hits is available as complete turn-key Total format, and both can also be fully customized as Local formats. They are fully hosted, with a contemporary presentation.
