James ("Jay") Thompson Severin III
Jay Severin is a life-long current events geek (e.g. founding President of his sixth grade civics club) and was active in the 60's era anti-war movement. He is a graduate of Vassar College, and studied journalism at the Boston University Graduate School of Communication.
He has, since 1978, been engaged in the buisness of politics and media: serving as media & political advisor to Republican incumbents and candidates in circa 30 major campaigns nationwide for Governor, U.S. House, U. S. Senate, and President.
Severin has served as political analyst for MSNBC, and featured columnist for MSNBC.com. He was a 2004 nominee for the radio industry's highest honor, the Marconi Award, and is well known for hosting Boston radio's most popular afternoon political talk show. His other, extensive media work includes the BBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, PBS, CNBC, Fox News, and foreign television; his comments have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Business Week, Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Newsweek, et. al.; he is the author of Op-Ed articles for the New York Times, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, et. al.; and a frequent guest on the Imus in the Morning national radio program.
Jay Severin's chief off-air, therapeutic activity is mountaineering (in the past few years mostly in Iceland and the American Rockies). He resides in his famly's home in Sag Harbor, New York with his three dogs (Newfoundlands) where, together, they daily indulge their shared passion for sea kayaking, surfing, drooling, and civics, in roughly that order.
