While the US consumer is happily buying everything and anything made somewhere else. the rest of the world is buying a lot of American agricultural and other products. but our trade deficit continues to put DOLLARS in the hands of foreigners. And WITH those dollars they've been buying American too. Or perhaps I should say buying AMERICA. About half of the US government's publicly traded DEBT. some 2.19 trillion dollars is being held by foreign central banks. including those of China and Japan. and by private investors abroad. And a lot of the American things foreigners are buying. they're leaving here. like factories, skyscrapers and businesses. The story after this for Hostway.

Nearly one out of five US oil refineries is owned by foreign companies. Foreign companies have a big piece of our pier plants, chemical factories, and water treatment facilities. European nations account for 977 billion dollars or two thirds of foreign direct investment in the United States. The Arab investment is about 9.3Billion. Tmobile USA sounds like an American company, doesn't it? But it's a subsidiary of Germany's Deutsche Telekom. For the next 75 years more than 150 miles of Interstate 80.Including the INDIANA toll road will be run by a pair of Spanish and Australian companies that will collect the tolls, operate the pit stops, maintain the highway and TRY to make a profit.
